Fabrics from Algeria in Munich
This artistic diary accompanies my current research work. It is meant to open a window for Northern Algeria, especially for the people of the Kabylei.
The diary grows with each day and has an open end. The extent to which Algeria meets my life in Munich is to become experimentally apparent here.
Reflection
Images of Rome, of the eternal city, seem to have fallen out of time. What are the crowds doing there? Are they still up to date? The pictures were taken before the Corona pandemic, and one inwardly begrudges Rome and all the crowded cities further respite from tourist crowds.
Technology has advanced to the point where a heart can continue to beat artificially. The digital collage tries to connect the medical device „Ecmo“ with the body and mind and shows the human body in dependencies of scientific achievements.
The reflection of the city of Kyiv in a photo from 2015 takes on a new meaning in the current political situation. Architecture suggests something stable. By alienating the reflection, she suggests something fragile and the question arises as to what prospect the city will have in 2022.
The collage shows a landscape inspired by the unknown 17th century painter and cartographer Valentin Gappnigg from Austria. The photographs used for the collage are from the book by Windsor Chorlton „Inside the Body“. The question is raised whether an aesthetic approach to the abstract concept of the Anthropocene can be made by interweaving the outside with the inside.
The photographs capture the hours before sunrise at Lake Kochel near Munich. They were taken in the boat of a professional fisherman.The opposites of life and death, the elements of air and water are recorded and united on the fishing boat.Through the change in water temperatures, fishermen are direct witnesses of climate change.
The intervention and use of nature is possible even at heights where agriculture no longer plays a role. Hydropower is an important source of energy in Austria and is endangered by climate change. The photographs show an aesthetic approach
to how human intervention in nature creates new forms and dependencies.
The view of the Pasterze on the Grossglockner massif is also a farewell. The knowledge of glacier melt on the environment is known, but the exact effects are still uncertain. The glacier and its beauty are evident, the disappearance of it inevitable. The photographs want to express an emotional point of view more than a documentation.
In meinen Saunagängen bemerke ich meist unangenehm die Dauersaunierer. Diese Spezies ist noch nicht ausgestorben, obwohl sie an die Riesenechsen vor einigen Milliarden Jahren doch stark erinnern. Gerade der männliche Teil gibt gerne den allerneuesten Wochenklatsch lautstark während des Aufgusses preis. Ein Thema was über mehrere Wochen an Aktualität beibehält ist der Burkini.-
„Nein das ginge doch zu weit, wenn in deutschen Badeanstalten schon Burkinis getragen werden dürfen.“ lautet die These. Für den Leser, der noch nicht den Unterschied zum Bikini weiß: Burkinis sind eng anliegende Ganzkörperanzüge, die vor allem muslimische Frauen beim Schwimmen tragen. Es gibt keinen großen Unterschied zu Neoprenanzügen außer, dass die Trägerinnen auch geschminkt mit ihnen ins Wasser steigen. Was die Männer in der Sauna wirklich empört ist rational nicht zu erklären. Wäre diese Art von Mann auch eine der ersten gewesen, die sich 60 Jahre früher über die Einführung von Bikinis beschwert hätte. Frau kann es einfach nicht recht machen.
Im Sportbad in Hannover hatte ich meine erste Live- Begegnung mit einem Burkini– oder besser mit seiner Trägerin. Ein Burkini lässt sich wie ein eng geschnittenes Kleid schließen- also fast unmöglich alleine. So bat mich eine Frau ihren Burkini zu schließen. Wenn da nicht jeder Mann vor Neid Tode gestorben wäre. So entschwand mir die Badenixe nach geglücktem Anziehen gleich in die Fluten des Hallenbades. Merke: Egal ob mit Bikini, Burkini oder gar nackig. Wie bereichernd, dass Frauen machen, was sie wollen. Denn eins ist klar. Schöner als jeder Dauersaunierer ist sie dabei allemal.
